Dr. Edward Keith S. Beduya is an orthodontist whose clinical practice is founded on Facial-Driven Multidisciplinary Orthodontics, a treatment philosophy that integrates facial aesthetics, oral function, TMJ health, biomechanics, and interdisciplinary treatment planning to achieve healthy, stable, and naturally balanced outcomes. His treatment philosophy extends beyond aligning teeth and correcting the bite. Every treatment plan begins with a comprehensive evaluation of facial balance, oral function, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) health, periodontal condition, restorative requirements, and long-term treatment objectives. By considering the patient’s overall rehabilitation from the very beginning, he develops orthodontic treatment plans that support healthy function, facial aesthetics, and stable long-term results.
He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Centro Escolar University Manila in 2003, where he was a consistent Dean’s Lister and recipient of both the University Scholarship and the CEU Alumni Scholarship. Following graduation, he completed postgraduate training at St. Luke’s Medical Center in the Department of Dentistry and Oral Surgery and pursued further education in Periodontics and Infection Control. He also completed advanced training in Functional Orthodontics, Implant Dentistry, and Temporomandibular Disorders, including training through the TMJ Institute of Manila.
Committed to advancing his professional career, Dr. Beduya later completed his three-year, full-time, university-based postgraduate training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the Centro Escolar University Graduate School, earning the Diploma in Orthodontics (DipOrtho). He is an active member of the Association of Philippine Orthodontists (APO) and has successfully passed the final examination conducted by the Philippine Board of Orthodontics (PBO), qualifying him for induction as a Fellow of the Association of Philippine Orthodontists (FAPO) and a Diplomate of the Philippine Board of Orthodontics (DPBO).
Before focusing his practice on orthodontics, Dr. Beduya spent many years providing comprehensive dental care in the fields of restorative, prosthetic, cosmetic, implant, and general dentistry. This extensive clinical experience continues to shape the way he approaches orthodontic treatment today. Rather than viewing tooth movement as an isolated procedure, he plans every case with the final restorative and facial outcome already in mind. This perspective enables him to identify potential restorative, periodontal, prosthetic, and implant considerations early in treatment and integrate them into a carefully sequenced treatment plan.
His clinical practice focuses on multidisciplinary orthodontic management, particularly for adult patients whose treatment often involves periodontal rehabilitation, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, implant dentistry, or TMJ management. Through careful treatment sequencing, orthodontics becomes part of a comprehensive rehabilitation strategy rather than an isolated procedure. This approach allows the final restorative and esthetic outcome to be considered before active tooth movement begins, improving efficiency, predictability, and long-term stability.
Dr. Beduya has also developed extensive experience in orthodontic treatment for patients with existing Temporomandibular Disorders. His background in TMJ diagnosis and management enables him to recognize patients who may be at increased risk of functional problems before orthodontic treatment begins. Whenever indicated, TMJ considerations are incorporated into orthodontic diagnosis, biomechanics, and treatment sequencing, with the goal of supporting joint health while achieving orthodontic correction. His experience in managing TMD also allows symptoms to be recognized and addressed appropriately should they occur during active orthodontic treatment.
He is the developer of the Beduya TMD Therapy Program (BTTP), a comprehensive management protocol for patients with Temporomandibular Disorders that integrates multiple evidence-based treatment approaches according to each patient’s individual diagnosis and functional needs.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Beduya actively participates in professional education and academic activities. He has presented clinical case studies at the Asia Pacific Orthodontic Congress in Taiwan and serves as a member of the Speakers Bureau of the Philippine Dental Association, delivering lectures on orthodontics to local dental societies and professional organizations.
His professional affiliations include the Association of Philippine Orthodontists, Philippine Dental Association, Manila Dental Chapter, Philippine Academy of Implant Dentistry, Philippine Prosthodontic Society, American Academy of Orofacial Pain, and other organizations dedicated to continuing professional education and clinical excellence.
